Philadelphia is always abuzz with cool concerts and is a hub for the music scene. At some point or another, it seems that nearly every artist out there hits the city to put on a show. In Philly, there's perpetually some music thing going on...one of my absolute favorite things about this place! As my internship is coming to a close in a couple of weeks, I thought I would leave you with some info about pretty rad artists who are visiting Philadelphia in August! Here are MY picks for must-see concerts in Philly for August 2016:
G-Eazy & Logic at Festival Pier, August 2nd
If you like rap, this is where you need to be. Two powerhouses on one stage. Favorite songs: "Me, Myself & I" (G-Eazy), "Flexicution" (Logic).
The Hush Sound at The Fillmore, August 5th
Feel good music that makes you want to dance a little jig. Favorite Song: "We Intertwined."
Halsey & Oh Wonder at Festival Pier, August 11th
Indie-esque music giants. I'm a huge fan of Oh Wonder, a mega cool alternative British duo. Halsey's unique voice and style are bound to be awesome on stage. Favorite songs: "Technicolour Beat" (Oh Wonder), "Colors" (Halsey).
The Bangles at Theatre of Living Arts, August 20th
"Eternal Flame." "Walk Like an Egyptian." "Manic Monday." All the old hits. Need I say more?
Eric Roberson at World Cafe Live, August 21st
Epitome of R&B/Soul. His style is as smooth as butter. He has those throwback vibes that just make you want to close your eyes and let the music sink in. Favorite song: "It's So Easy."
Ja Rule + Ashanti at The Electric Factory, August 26th
Both artists are big names with hit songs. Real good music that's grounded in emotion and makes you wanna nod your head along. Favorite songs: "Foolish" (Ashanti), "Mesmerize" (Ja Rule).
Bonnie Raitt at The Mann Center, August 26th
An actual icon of her time. "I Can't Make You Love Me" and "Something To Talk About" are among her hits!
Ms. Lauryn Hill at The Mann Center, August 27th
She's a legend, a powerhouse, an inspiration, an absolute queen. She sings the truth always with her amazing chops. This is not one to miss!!! Favorite song: "Ex-Factor."
Laura Mvula at Union Transfer, August 28th
This singer is an absolute powerhouse and has an incredibly rich and soulful voice. When she sings, it feels like the truth to me. My favorite songs of hers: "She" and "Green Garden," but they're all fantastic.
