Individual lessons are offered at all levels in all keyboard, string, brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments, as well as composition and music theory. Settlement requires students to have an instrument for study and, in limited circumstances, may be able to assist students in acquiring instruments on loan. Many local vendors offer instrument rentals at reasonable rates. Settlement maintains and distributes a list of vendors at each branch for the information of students, but not as an endorsement.
Voice instruction is offered to students age 14 and older. The Gleeksman-Kohn Children's Choir is recommended for children ages 8-14 who wish to develop their singing skills.
Students may begin lessons at any time throughout the year. For registration and scheduling information, contact the Branch Coordinator at the branch location nearest to you.
CERTIFICATION is the process by which Settlement Music School recognizes and acknowledges student achievement and progress. Teachers use a curriculum guide for each instrument divided into levels from Beginner to Advanced. Visit our Certification page to learn more.
Settlement currently offers private lessons in the instruments listed below. More instruments may be available. Click the link below for faculty bios for each instrument.
