Orchestra rehearsal at the Mary Louise Curtis Branch
The smallest and highest string instrument.

Like all of the instruments in the string family, the violin is played either with a bow or by plucking the strings in a manner so fancy, it gets an Italian name: pizzicato. Violins play such an important role in the orchestra, there are two entire sections devoted to the instrument. In fact, the lead violinist in any orchestra is known as the Concertmaster.
