The Primavera Fund supports Settlement students

Semaj Murphy, violin student of Abby Nixon at the Germantown Branch, joined the roster of The Primavera Fund this summer. The Primavera Fund, established in 2014, is a nonprofit foundation supporting the development of young musicians aiming for professional careers in music.

He joins another current Settlement student on the roster: violinist Lily Alexandra Mell, who is member of the Trowbridge Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Jeri Lynne Johnson.

The Primavera Fund's mission is to identify, mentor, and underwrite the artistic endeavors of young musicians whose talent surpasses their financial means, and it offers its students a comprehensive program, including instruments on loan from The Norman Holland Hull Instrument Library, private instruction on a weekly basis, scholarships for youth orchestra, chamber music, and intensive summer programs, and more.
